PIER RULES ARE POSTED IN THE PIER HOUSE AND NEAR THE END OF THE PIER
The Rodanthe Pier is a family oriented business and exists for the enjoyment of the people that live on and visit Hatteras Island. Rules are necessary to maintain the atmosphere that we strive to provide. Some are simply fisherman's etiquette and others have been developed from experiences that have been good and bad. Most are meant to lessen conflicts between Rodanthe Pier patrons.
The pier rules are strictly enforced by Rodanthe Pier employees.
You can read them in the picture to the right.
Please note that braided fishing lines are not allowed anywhere on the pier. We have had one too many incidents of braided line cutting other fishermen's monofilament causing loss of rigs, live bait and/or hooked fish leading to unfortunate conflicts. Braided fishing lines include, but are not limited to, Spiderwire, PowerPro, and Fireline.
Surfing, kayaking, and kiteboarding are not permitted within 300 feet of the pier. This is a state law and is for the protection of those participating in this activity as well as the fishermen.
